Japan, where we live, is classified as having a warm and humid climate due to its latitude and to the fact that it is an island nation surrounded by the sea. This unique climate is home to a wide variety of plants, and the beauty of the changing seasons nurtures a richness of life and spirit. The air that seems to clothe the skin at times may be one of the sensations most deeply engraved in the body.
Humidityでは、火をつけて焚くお香にとって、表現することが難しい「水分」をお香で表現する技法を追求しました。
「水分」を表現する素材としてAからHを選定し、仮説に基づいた量を含むサンプルを製作し、香りの立ち方を検証しました。香りが立ったもののなかから、より透明度やウォータリーさを感じるものを評価をし、そのなかから主原料を選び、処方の方向性を定めました。これまでのお香のイメージを払拭するような爽やかでみずみずしい香りは、空間と心に静けさを与えます。
Humidity is difficult to express in incense that is lit and burned, so we have pursued a technique to express "moisture" in incense. We selected A to H as materials to express "moisture," created samples containing hypothetical amounts, and verified how the fragrance would develop. Among the fragrances that were produced, we evaluated the ones that showed more transparency and moisture, and from those we selected the main raw materials and determined the direction of the formulation. The fresh and lush fragrance, which dispels the image of the typical incense of the past, gives a sense of tranquility to the space and the mind.
